Growing up in the small town of Berkåk, Norway with less than 1,000 people and long cold winters, Astrid S was drawn to music at an early age. She started playing piano when she was only 6 years old and began singing and writing songs as a young teenager. Now at 18 years old, Astrid is making waves as a performing artist, singer and songwriter after releasing her first single, “2AM”, which reached Gold status and soared on the Top 10 radio charts in Norway. With a propulsive dance remix of “2AM” by hot DJ/producer Matoma reaching nearly 7 million Spotify streams, Astrid was recently named a Spotlight Artist and One To Watch 2015 by Spotify Norway as well as “Norway’s next great pop export” by NYLON Magazine. Astrid’s unique confectionary mix of indie pop and modern R&B tones have also led to appearances on multi-platinum artist Shawn Mendes’ #1 US album Handwritten and an acoustic remix for Avicii’s “Waiting For Love.” Astrid’s debut, self-titled EP was released on May 20 and features the single “Hurts So Good,” which has already reached more than 50 million streams on Spotify. She also recently supported Troye Sivan on his European Blue Neighbourhood Tour, and will continue throughout Scandinavia and North America with him in the fall.
